so often that they misled other muslims through making the latter think what they do is of the Shar‘, the thing which is totally untrue.
Some of these mistakes are the following:
* Asking for All?h’s ( - عز وجل -) pleasure by the Mu’aththin?n while the Khutbah is being delivered especially when the Khat?b makes mention of the Sultan, the former instantly saying with a loud voice: ‘Amen, Amen. May All?h ( - عز وجل -) grant him victory and preserve him’ and other such du‘?’s. This is all a hideous forbidden Bid‘ah.
* Some of the Mu’aththin?n call All?h ( - عز وجل -) for the Khat?b -when he sits after the first Khutbah- saying: ‘May All?h ( - عز وجل -) forgive you and your parents, us, our parents and all those who are present ... etc.’
* They also recite the prophet’s ( - ) had?th: ‘If you ordered your mate to keep quiet ... ’ then they recite the Qur’?nic verse: ‘Verily, All?h ( - عز وجل -) and His angles send Sal?t on the prophet ( - ) ... ’ when the Khat?b heads to the pulpit. (1)
The aforementioned mistakes should be strongly fought for they consist of false Athk?r that are recited at a time when silence is enjoined and the reflection of the heart towards the Khutbah is needed. Besides, raising one’s voice with such Athk?r will disturb muslims’ psychological unity.
The Fuqah?’ agreed unanimously that such a practice is a hideous mistake that all the Khutabah and those who have the ability should do their best in order to wipe it out.
