4 - Ab? Hurairah ( - رضي الله عنه -) related that the prophet ( - ) said: ‘When you ask your companion to keep quiet and to listen when the Im?m is delivering the Khutbah (religious speech), then you have done laghw yourself [i.e. evil act]’. (1)
In another narration, he ( - ) is reported to have said: ‘Whoever does laghw on Jumu‘ah Sal?t, he would receive no reward’. (2)
The aforementioned Ah?d?th indicate that the one who performs Jumu‘ah Sal?t would be granted a great reward if it is done properly fulfilling all its conditions, etiquettes and Sunnan. One would:
First: get a reward the amount of which is like that given to one who spends a whole year fasting its days and spends its night doing Qiy?m.
Second: get a reward equal to that who offers a camel (3) , be it a she camel or he camel, a cow, a hen, a horned ram -for it would be more perfect than other rams- a hen or an egg for the sake of All?h ( - عز وجل -) each in proportion to how much early one attends the mosque.
Third: be forgiven of all his sins which he commits between the present Jumu‘ah and the one that follows and three more days -as some narrations state.
Fourth: get one’s reward recorded by the angles -other than preserving ones.
(1) Narrated by: Al-Bukh?r? in his “Sah?h” (no. 934) and Muslim in his “Sah?h” (no. 851) and many others.
(2) The had?th’s narrations will follow soon. Insh?’ All?h ( - عز وجل -).
(3) In Ibn Juraij’s narration: “ ... he would get a reward equal to that of the size of the camel”. This narration was interpreted as: the reward is so great like the size of the camel. This is, however, untrue. Ibn Juraij’s narration should be interpreted in accordance with the other narrations, that is: the reward given to the one who attends the mosque for Jumu‘ah Sal?t so early is as great as the one given to the one who offers a camel ... etc. All?h ( - عز وجل -) knows best. This view was held by Shaikh Ibn B?z in his commentary on “Fathul B?r?” (vol. 2 p. 366).
