[58] Mistakes that diminish the reward given to those who perform Jumu‘ah Sal?t:

1 - Aws Ibn Aws ( - رضي الله عنه -) said: I heard All?h’s ( - عز وجل -) messenger ( - ) say: ‘Whoever takes a bath on Friday perfectly then goes [to Sal?t] early, [heads to the mosque] on foot not riding, sits so close to the Im?m [i.e. in the first rows], listens [to the Im?m carefully] and does not do any act of laghw; for every step he makes he would be granted a reward equal to that given to the one who fasts and perform Qiy?mul lail for a whole year’. 2 - Ab? Hurairah ( - رضي الله عنه -) related that the prophet ( - ) said: ‘On Friday, angels stand on the entrances of mosques, recording the first to attend the mosque then those who follow. The like of the one who comes so early like the one who offers a camel for the sake of All?h ( - عز وجل -) , the one next is like the one who offers a cow, then a horned ram, then a hen and then an egg. When the Im?m shows up, they close their records to listen to the Thikr [Khutbah]’. (2)

3 - Salm?n Al-F?ris? ( - رضي الله عنه -) related that the prophet ( - ) said: ‘Whoever bathes on Friday, cleans himself with that he could use, then applies perfume, then proceeds early [to the mosque], separating not between any two sitting together and performs what he could of N?filah and when the Im?m comes, he listens carefully; whatever sins he commits between this Jumu‘ah and the one that follows would be forgiven’.
