[6/ 20] ‘ Despite the many afflictions that are attacking muslim’s religion and their mundane wellfare, doing Qun?t has been abandoned. Because of their disunity and rejection to co-operated with each other, muslims became as strangers in their own countries even in their Du‘?’ of Qun?t; consequently, ruling the country is wheeled not by them. Indeed, doing Qun?t at times of affliction in all the Salaw?t is an affirmed Sunnah of the prophet ( - صلى الله عليه وسلم -) that is done after rising from the last Ruk?‘ and after reciting ‘Sami’all?hu Liman Hamidah’ (1) -as was narrated by ‘Anas and Ab? Hurairah ( - رضي الله عنه -).

Al-’Athram said: ‘I heard Abu Abdill?h say -when asked about doing Qun?t in Fajr Sal?t -: ‘The Im?m should do Qun?t when muslims are being under afflictions, such as being afflicted with such disbelievers like B?bik, (2) and those behind him should say ‘?m?n’.

Ab? Ish?q Al-Harb? said: ‘I heard Ab? Thawr ask Ab? ‘Abdill?h Ahmad Ibn Hanbal about doing Qun?t in Fajr Sal?t. Ab? ‘Abdill?h said: ‘It should only be done at times of afflictions’.

Ab? Thawr then commented: ‘what could be worse than that we are suffering from these days’.

Im?m Ahmad then said: ‘So do Qun?t’. (3)

Abdull?h Ibn Ahmad Ibn Hanbal said: ‘I asked my father regarding doing Qun?t in Fajr Sal?t - may one do it in the same manner the prophet ( - صلى الله عليه وسلم -) did; asking for All?h’s mercy to be sent down on Muslims, and his wrath to be showered on the Mushrik?n?’

My father said: ‘No problem, the Im?m could do so’. (4)
