Indeed, how could such a false claim be attributed to the prophet’s ( - ) house hold?! They are indeed free from it.

Ash-Shawk?n? also stated: ‘In San‘?’ mosques, congregations perform ‘Asr Sal?t immediately after performing Thuhr Sal?t and they perform ‘Ish?’ Sal?t during the Maghrib time. And many people perform Thuhr and ‘Asr Sal?t when the sun is about to set. To All?h ( - عز وجل -) we complain of such sheer ignorance in religion’. (1)

[2/ 65] It is worth mentioning here that a group of Fuqah?’ consider combining between Salaw?t in residence as forbidden. Ash-Shawk?n? supported their view and compiled a treatise under the title “Tashn?fus Sam‘ Bi’ibt?li ‘Adillatil Jam‘”. (2) He depended on an extra information reported in Ibn ‘Abb?s’ had?th which states: ‘All?h’s ( - عز وجل -) Messenger combined between Thuhr and ‘Asr Sal?t and between Maghrib and ‘Ish?’ Sal?t in Mad?nah though there was neither rain nor were muslims under a state of fear’. (3) This extra information states: ‘He ( - ) delayed performing Thuhr Sal?t and performed ‘Asr Sal?t in its early time, and delayed doing Maghrib Sal?t and performed ‘Ish?’ Sal?t in its early time’. Commenting on this extra information, Ash-Shawk?n? said that this combination between Salaw?t is an unreal one; it includes a combination of actions [not of times]. This means to do the first Sal?t in its late time and the second in its early time but not the two ones at the same period of time. This way of combination between the Salaw?t was, however, weakened by many scholars; one of whom is An-Nawaw?.
