Eid days doing acts of worship, his/her heart will never die on the day when all hears will die’. (1)
This had?th is forged and should never be ascribed to the prophet ( - ) and hence the prohibition of applying it and calling people for it.
[9/ 64] Khutabah’s mistakes in the Eid Khutbah:
1 - Commencing the Khutbah with Takb?r and repeating it frequently during the Khutbah.
Describing the prophet’s ( - ) Eid Khutbah, Ibn Al-Qayyim said: ‘He ( - ) used to begin all his Khutab with “Al-Hamdulill?h”. It was not affirmed in even one single had?th the he ( - ) used to begin the two Eid Khutab with Takb?r. Ibn M?jah narrated in his “Sunnan” (2) from Sa‘d Al-Qurth -the prophet’s ( - ) caller for Sal?t- that ‘he ( - ) used to say Takb?r frequently during his Khutbas especially in the Eid Khutbah’.
This does not, however, mean that he ( - ) used to begin the Khutbah with Takb?r. Scholars differed regarding the beginnings of the Istisq?’ and the two Eid Khutab; some say that they should begin with Takb?r, others say the Istisq?’ Khutbah should begin with Istghf?r and others say that both should begin with Tahm?d.
Shaikhul Isl?m Ibn Taymiyyah held that the latter is the soundest of all opinions. (3)
I believe that the had?th mentioned earlier is a weak one for its chain of narrators include Abdul Rahm?n Ibn Sa‘d Ibn Amm?r Ibn Sa‘d -the caller for Sal?t- and he is a weak narrator and Sa‘d Ibn Amm?r who is an unidentified narrator. Accordingly, it must not be used as a proof by those who recite Takb?r during the Khutbah. (4)
