[1/ 3] Those who wear tight trousers and short shirts that when they bow down [for Ruk?‘] or prostrate themselves; a part of their backs and a part of their private parts become uncovered, the thing which renders their Sal?t invalid. We seek refuge in All?h ( - ) from ignorance and those who are ignorant. They cause their Sal?t to a loss because of such tight trousers imported from countries of disbelievers. (1)
Attracting muslims’ attention to such a mistake, Shaikh Abdull?h Ibn Abdir Rahm?n Al-J?breen said: ‘Many people do not wear wide thick clothes, they wear instead the Sar?w?l and Jibbah (i.e. Qam?s) that cover their backs and chests. When they bow down the Qam?s [shirt] shrinks upwards and the Sar?w?l [trousers] downwards the thing that causes the lower part of their backs to be uncovered and since this part is a part of one’s private parts, their Sal?t is rendered invalid and void’.*
[2/ 3] Women who do not pay much attention to their clothes when they perform Sal?t out of ignorance or carelessness:
The Jumh?r a greed unanimously that a woman must wear a Dir’and a khim?r when she performs Sal?t. (2)
Some women may begin their Sal?t while a part of their hair, arms or legs is uncovered, this renders their Sal?t invalid and must be repeated - whether the time appointed for the Sal?t has gone or not. This is the Jumh?r’s opinion which is born out from the prophet’s ( - ) had?th: ‘A menstruating woman’s Sal?t is not accepted unless she wears her Khim?r’. (3)

This means that she must cover her head and the whole of her body with wide thick clothes. She could cover her head with the same cloth she covers her body, nothing wrong with that. Al-Bukh?r? narrated this in his “Sah?h” (vol.1 / p. 483) from Ikrima through a Mu‘allaq narration: ‘It is permissible for a woman to cover her head and the whole of her body with the same garment’.
