In addition to that, the congregational Sal?t [for which the twenty five doubles reward is granted] refers to the one done in the mosques not at homes that is why the Sah?bah ( - رضي الله عنهم -) used to perform their Sal?t in the mosques -not at homes- unless they miss it in the mosque; they would do it individually. The case is totally the opposite nowadays; people tend to do their congregational Sal?t at home. (1)

He ( - صلى الله عليه وسلم -) said: ‘The superiority of the Sal?t done in congregation [in the mosque] is twenty five doubles superior to that done at home or the work place provided one performs perfect Wud?’ and then attends the mosque for the sake of doing Sal?t only. In every step he makes, he would be given areward and a sin will be plotted away. And the angels will send Sal?t [i.e.Du‘?’] on him so long as he is still in the mosque; they say: “O All?h ( - عز وجل -) send your mercy on him ... ”’. (2) .

The prophet’s ( - صلى الله عليه وسلم -) words “And then attends the mosque” clearly state the cause [for getting the promised reward] that should not be ignored. Accordingly, this reward is only given for the one who attends the mosque to do Sal?t in it not at home.

Al-Kashm?r? said: ‘Considering the view that states the permissibility of doing congregational Sal?t at home, one could say that doing Sal?t at home is less superior than the one done in the mosque. This bears the same meaning stated in the [had?th]. As for doing Sal?t at home in congregation by those who missed it in the mosque, this is not related to the point under discussion for doing so is of the incidental excuses but it does not entail that doing so is legally affirmed that rulings could be delivered based on it’. Ibn Al-Qayyim said: ‘Reflecting on the Sunnah deeply, one could realize that it is an obligation on a Muslim [man] to perform the congregational Sal?t in the mosque unless there is an incidental
