This had?th was narrated by Ibn Tahm?n in his “Mashyakhah” (no.62). And through the same chain of narrators, Al-H?kim narrated it in his “Al-Mustadrak” (vol.4/p.509), Ibn ‘As?kir in “T?r?kh Dimashq” (vol.1/pp.163 - 4), At-Tah?w? in “Mushkil Al-‘?th?r” (vol.1/p.248) and Al-Baihaqi- as mentioned in “At-Targh?b Wat Tarh?b” (vol.2/p.217).

Another narration states: ‘If the area added to the Mosque extends to the Jubb?nah, it would be part of the prophet’s ( - صلى الله عليه وسلم -) Mosque and All?h ( - عز وجل -) will drive people to perform Sal?t in it’.

This was indeed the Sah?bah’s attitude to the area added to the prophet’s ( - صلى الله عليه وسلم -) Mosque. ‘Umar and ‘Uthm?n ( - رضي الله عنه -) added extra area to the prophet’s ( - صلى الله عليه وسلم -) Mosque from the part that is to the direction of

(1) Shaikh Al-Alb?n? said in “Tamamul Minnah” (p.294). ‘This had?th was narrated and considered authentic by Al-H?kim with whom Ath-Thahabi agreed. It is indeed as they stated. It is fully narrated in At-Ta‘l?q Ar-Ragh?b” (vol. 2 / p.138) ... As for the narration that states that “one Sal?t in Baitul Maqdis equals one thousand Sal?t in any other place” it is a rejected one - as Ath-Thahabi stated”.
